Supporting the journey through motherhood and beyond: Meet Daniela from Continuall

We were lucky enough to work with this incredible Melbourne-based brand, run by three powerhouse mums (and mums-to-be!), on their latest campaign and fell in love with them and the entire ethos behind the brand. So we knew we had to chat to feature them on our Mosey Loves series, and thankfully co-founder Daniela kindly obliged.

Join us as we learn all about the juggle of entrepeneurship and motherhood, and what's on Dan's Mosey wishlist.

How did you all meet? Ash and I have worked together as Osteopaths for many years before we met Emma (who was a patient of ours) and created Continuall. We often joke about a ‘pregnant apparel specialist walks into an Osteo clinic and Continuall was born.

How was the idea for Continuall born and what made you take the leap and go into business together? I have loved treating pregnant and postpartum women for 20 years and want to support them in every way I know how. I had used compression wear myself and been recommending it to patients for years but always felt it could be so much better but never had any experiencing designing and making clothes. When we met Emma she also shared a passion for supporting women and had a wealth of experience in apparel and we knew we had the right tools to start a business.

What are everyone’s roles in the business? Do you collaborate on most decisions, or are you all responsible for different things? We are still evolving in our roles. Emma is the tech wizard and operations manager. Ash is all over advertising and marketing, and I am the clinical educator.

What’s your favourite aspect of running your own business? What’s the hardest part? So many great aspects. I love working in a collaborative team, sharing ideas and having a wonderful support group. Meeting other women in business, especially in the pregnancy space, has been a huge highlight and very inspirational. I am still working as an Osteopath, and love treating so the trickiest part is navigating how to allocate time between the businesses whilst still wanting to get to every one of the kids’ basketball and soccer games. There are MANY!

What has been a career highlight for you so far on your journey? Seeing us in store at The Memo for the first time was a huge thrill. But then seeing customers out in the wild wearing our tights is just as thrilling.

What’s the next project on the horizon? We are developing a range to best support women during menstruation and post-menopausal. Very exciting.

How do you fill your cup and recharge? I’m an introvert so definitely need some quiet alone time, which can be tricky in a busy day with two busy kids. But an early morning walk with the dog and listening to a podcast fills me up pretty quickly. I love watching the kids play sport on the weekends and then watching TV on the couch with my husband or heading out for brunch with my girlfriends. Simple golden stuff.

We loved being a part of your latest campaign. What inspired the tone and aesthetic for the shoot? Oh, we LOVED having you be a part of it! You brought the colour! It made sense to us to show Mums in their home and then off to the shops (because that’s where we do spend a lot of our time!). We wanted it to be raw, beautiful but also playful and fun.

What does a typical day in your life look like at the moment? Ha. I laugh at typical because it changes every day. But the most typical would be: wake up early to walk our dog and then home to wrangle the kids to get ready for school. I’m not a morning person at all but I’m pretending to be and my dog is super cute so he is the perfect reason to get up early.  After drop off I’m straight to the clinic to treat patients and then RUN to school pick up. Then it's sport after school so after their drop off I’m straight into Continuall work and then family dinner (if we are all home from sport in time), pilates, collapse on the couch to watch a show with husband and sleep, sleep, sleep.

You’re all mums or soon-to-be mums. How has that changed how you think about interior decorating / furnishing your home? Before kids my house was white matching with white and very clean. The kids have brought chaos and destroyed most of our old (once new things) so now I am more open and relaxed with colour and mismatched things and appreciate functionality more.

What are the specific things you look for when purchasing pieces for your home? Love it when interiors are washable and can handle grubby fingers. Also, versatility is a big tick.

What is your favourite piece from the Mosey Me range & why? Definitely your bathrobes. Cosy, warm and bursts of colour. Perfection.
